Montowese Cemetery, North Haven, New Haven County, CT
Montowese cemetery sits at the juncture of Quinnipiac Ave and Nettleton Ave in the historic town of North Haven, New Haven County, Connecticut.
It is a medium sized, older cemetery with perhaps a thousand or more interrments. We visited the cemetery for just a couple hours and took
about 400 photographs of tombstones. The cemetery is still open and active, as evidenced by recent burials.
Although there is evidence this cemetery is still open and active, the majority of burials are generally older. Some date to the early 1700s.
The years have worn away several inscriptions. However, many
are still mostly legible. We did not photograph the entire graveyard but rather stuck, for the most part, to tombstones which were mostly
legible. We have no additional information for the individuals interred here and cannot entertain requests for specific
markers. Inquiries for genealogical and other information would probably be best addressed by
the North Haven Historical Society as we do not have access to
any information other than that gleaned from these tombstones.
