Christ Church Cemetery, Sayreville, Middlesex County, NJ
Christ Church Cemetery sits on South Pine Ave on the border of Sayreville and South Amboy. The mailing address is Sayrville but some other
works have claimed that it is located in Soouth Amboy. The distinction is meaningless unless you use a GPS to get there, in which case you should
try Sayreville first. In any event, it is located not very far from Route 35 N on the ride hand side of that roadway. Note that this
particular area of New Jersey is a place where numerous large roads come together in various junctions, including Rt 9, the GSP and Turnpike, and Rt 35.
The cemetery has a web site located here: http://www.christchurchcemetery.org.
The site notes that it was founded in 1856 and it is still very much active. Older burials are easy to distinguish though there are
numerous new burials amongst the older ones. Our work is focused on the older ones with some "genealogical value" but, of coure, we have included
much more recent ones that are mixed in with the older. If you see a recent burial which you would like removed for privacy reasons, please
do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to comply with all reasonable requests.
This cemetery is fairly large with thousands of burials. We plan to visit it periodically and add to the work on an ongoing
basis. Please be patient if you know someone is interred here and we have not yet photographed their marker. We are sure you can obtain or
verify information for your genealogical research by visiting the cemetery's web site and contacting them.
