Ten-Mile Run Cemetery, Old Georgetown Road, Franklin Township, Somerset County, NJ
Ten Mile Run Cemetery sits along Old Georgetown Road just past Copper Mine Road in historic Franklin Township, Somerset County, New Jersey. From
what I can glean from Google Maps, contrary to what some other sites say, it is not located in the borough of Rocky Hill nor, contrary to
what my GPS device claims, Princeton. My best judgement is it can be found in Franklin Township so if your GPS device cannot
locate the appropriate roads, try any of the aforementioned towns to locate the junction of Old Georgetown and Copper Mine Roads. &mnsp; Then proceed
a short ways on Old Georgetown Rd.
The cemetery is small, holding perhaps 500 or so interments but definitely less than a thousand. It houses the remains of many notable
New Jersey colonial surnames like Conover, Cortelyou, Nevius, Schenck, Staats, and Voorhees
plus a few more recent ones. Tombstones vary from colonial period to the most modern version. Many are far too
worn to read completely. We photographed every stone and then have transcribed and posted the photographs of the legible ones. We have
skipped those for which we could not ascertain a surname, at least without reverting to guessing, and although our transcription may contain mistakes
due to difficulty reading the inscriptions, we believe we have done a fairly solid job of it.
We hope you find the following transcription with tombstone photographs of some interest in your family history research. Let us
know if you have any trouble accessing photographs.
