Marriage records are a great source of genealogical data. You can help others and at the same time
further your own research by sharing data gathered in the process of your research. Some good sources of
marriage data are newspapers on microfilm, old genealogical publications, marriage licenses obtained by you
in the course of your research.
All you need to do to submit marriage records is type whatever you have into a spreadsheet or word processing
program such as Microsoft Excel or Word and attach it to an e-mail sent to
taxpod@yahoo.com. We do need any such submissions to be in a particular
format in order to be able to publish the data efficiently. Please follow these guidelines depending on
which program you are using
If you are using a word processor or text editor, separate the following items with either a carriage
return or a tab:
- Groom's Name
-last
-first
- Groom's Parents
- Bride's Name
-last
-first
- Bride's Residence
- Bride's Parents
- Place of Marriage
-Country
-State (US States must have correct 2 letter coding)
-Other
- Date of Marriage
-Year
-Month
-Day
- Church or Other Official Presiding
- Witnesses
- Source of Information
If you are using a spreadsheet, please use the same items as above but rather than separating the data,
please create your spreadsheet with columns for each of the above items.
If you have questions about the format of data submissions, please e-mail your questions to
taxpod@yahoo.com before you get too far into a transcription.
Data submissions which do not conform to this request will certainly not be rejected but it may take
us a very long time to publish your submission. The only records we will reject are those where the
source of information is not specified.
We thank you in advance for taking the time and trouble of performing this service. We know many of our visitors will
benefit from your efforts.
