Indiana Obituaries - 1942 - Fred Mier, Miers, Myers

Frederick MIER, Age 87, Leaves 72 Descendants --

Leaving 72 descendants, Frederick Mier, age 87 died suddenly at the home of his son, Charles Mier, Columbus Avenue and Thirty-eighth street road, at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The Madison county coroner investigated.

Surviving besides the son Charles are a son, Jesse of Muncie; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Gold, Mrs. Emanuel Smith, and Mrs. Roy Bicknell, all of Anderson. There are 19 grandchildren,46 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

The body was removed to the Polhemus & Shirley funeral home at Daleville. Funeral services will be at the East Lynn Christian church with the Rev. R. Powell Mead officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Osborne, pastor of the Whetstone Chapel. Burial will be in Maplewood."

Submitter's Note: The preceding obit. was taken from the local library files for the local newspaper in Anderson, Madison Co., Indiana. (published Friday 27 November 1942). The surname spelling of MIER, MIERS, and MYERS has been observed in various documents belonging to his daughter (my Grandmother). The MYERS spelling was noted on her wedding certificate which was also witnessed by Frederick MYERS. According to the following obit. Frederick died 26 November 1942 in Madison Co., Indiana.
