Wm. Proctor
DEATH OF WM. PROCTOR
Wm. Proctor, a colored man who has been in the employ of Messrs.
Bonesteel, of the International Hotel, during the past summer, died on Friday morning last, of typhoid
fever. The deceased was formerly a resident of Leavenworth, Kansas and came to Yankton about one
year ago. He was a sober, industrious citizen, robust and active, and appeared to be able to
withstand the conflicts of life until worn out by age; and yet he was stricken down by the fell
destroyer in the very hour of his prime. Verily, "in the midst of life we are in death." The funeral
was largely attended by our citizens, on Saturday, the 5th inst. The body was buried in the
Yankton cemetery.
