AFTER LONG BATTLE OLD LADY SURRENDERS TO DEATH
A Resident of This City for More Than Half a Century Dies at Home of Son in Wisconsin
Mrs. Sallie Sharp, widow of the late Joseph Sharp, died at 9:30 this morning
at the home of her son, Marion, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where she had made her
home during the greater part of the last two years. Her death was due to the
infirmities attending old age, and during her sickness members of the
household entertained only slight hope of her recovery. The remains will
arrive here Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock and will be conveyed to the
Baptist church of which the deceased was a member, where funeral services
will be conducted following which the interment will take place in Evergreen
cemetery. Mrs. Sharp was a resident of this city for more than fifty years
and during her active life was among the best known ladies in the city. She
is survived by four children, two sons and two daughters. They are Wallace
Sharp, of Grossdale, Cook county, Marion Sharp, of Kenosha, Wis., at whose
home she died. Mrs. Henry Randall, who resides in Iowa, and Delia (Mrs.
Frank) Edgbert living in the state of Washington. One son, Elmer, was killed
in battle during the civil war and for which she drew a pension during many
years of her life. The deceased was born in New York state in February 1817,
and had she lived until next February she would have been 88 years of age.
