North Carolina Obituaries - May, 1973 - Fred W. Rice

Services for Fred William Rice, 79, of 10 Snyder Drive who died Monday, May 7, 1973 in an Asheville hospital after a long illness will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday in Anders-Rice Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. Talmadge Whitmore will officiate. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Jim, Tom, Thomas, and Dean Rice, Gorden Metcalf and Marvin Mabry.
A Native of Limestone, TN and a resident of Buncombe Co for 30 years Mr. Rice was a retied salesman for Thomas Furniture Co. He was a son of the late Hiram and Rebecca "Becky" Whitmore Rice. He is also preceded in death by his late wife, Ruth Berry Rice.
Surviving are five daughters, Margaret and Virginia of Spruce Pine, Mrs. Frankie Long of Chicago, Mrs. Eunice Caldwell and Mrs. Lily Phillips of Asheville; two sons, Ben of Asheville And Brownie of Adrian, MI.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ida Florence and Mrs. Thelma Hernadez of Adrian, MI; and 14 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm today at the funeral home.
