Mrs. Eliza A. Sanford died at Red Bank on Sunday at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Annie E. Williams. Mrs. Sanford was 79 years and 6 months of age, and for the last 36 years had been a widow, her husband having died in 1851. She was born at Howell Works and never lived for any great length of time outside the limits of Monmouth county. When her husband died she was left with the management of a large farm lying between Colt's Neck and Freehold and now known as the Conover Buck place. She had nine small children to educate, only three of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Williams, Edgar N. Sanford, of Ocean Grove, and John W. Sanford, of Red Bank. In early life Mrs. Sanford attended the Baptist church in Freehold but for the past sixty years she had been a member of the Methodist denomination. The funeral was held at the Red Bank Methodist church yesterday at noon, the pastor of the church conducting the services. The remains were taken to Freehold on the 1:15 train, for interment at that place. Source: Red Bank Register February 23, 1887 SANDFORD - In Red Bank, Feb. 20, 1887. Mrs. Eliza A.
