Nine Motherless Children Left Without a FatherLast Thursday Frederick Stokey, a resident of Allaire, was killed at Farmingdale by a train on the New Jersey Southern railway. Stokey was crossing the track when the train came along and struck him. he was thrown fully suxty feet and had his skull crushed. Death was instantaneous. Those who witnessed the accident say that the engineer failed to give any warning of the train's approach. mr. Stokey left a family of nine children. They are now both fatherless and motherless, Mrs. Stokey having died about a year ago. it is reported that relatives of the children will begin a suit in their behalf against the railroad company for damages.Source: Red Bank Register January 19, 1887
