Miss Rebecca Hubbard, of Middletown township, died suddenly on Sunday morning from congestion of the liver. She was taken sick on Sunday afternoon of last week, apparently with a slight cold, but grew worse continually until her death on Sunday last. A singular circumstance in connection with her death is the fact that on Sunday of last week she, with several others, met at the residence of her brother, James Hubbard, to make arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Bannan, Mr. Hubbard's mother-in-law; amd exactly one week later the same parties met make to [sic] arrangements for the funeral of Miss Hubbard herself.

Miss Hubbard was the eldest daughter of Samuel Hubbard, who died some twenty or more years ago. She and her sister, Miss Katie Hubbard, were the joint owners and occupants of the homestead farm, just across Hubbard's bridge. Miss Rebecca was a good business woman and took general charge of the business affairs of the property. She was a member of the Presbyterian church of Red Bank, and was liberal in her donations to charitable and worthy institutions. She had many friends who will learn of her death with sorrow. The funeral was held this afternoon at her late residence.

Death notice lists her age as 68 years and 6 months.
