Obits - NJ - Monmouth - John H. Megill

John H. Megill, who for eighteen years had been a resident of Seabright, died on Saturday last at his residence on River street at the age of 41 years. He had been sick for four weeks with hemorrhage of the lungs. He was one of the most prominent citizens of the town, a large property owner, and for many years was postmaster. he was a very strong temperance advocate and was the leader of the temperance crusade against the liquor saloons of the place. he was a member of the Methodist church, and for a number of years had been treasurer of that organization. He was also a prominent member of the Free Mason's lodge. His funeral was held yesterday at the Seabright Methodist church at half past two o'clock. the services were conducted by the Free Masons, and the sermon was preached by the Rev. G. H. Bishop. The church was crowded. The remains were buried at Long Branch.
