Obits - NJ - Monmouth - Frank McDermott |
Frank McDermott, a young man aged eighteen years, a native of Brooklyn,
while walking the track of the New Jersey Southern railway, near Galilee,
on Saturday, June 2d, was struck by a locomotive, and so badly hurt that he
died from the effects of his injuries last Wednesday. Young McDermott, who is
deaf in one ear, was reading a letter when the train struck him. His body
was seriously contused, and the left elbow badly fractured. The injured lad
was taken to the house of his aunt, Mrs. Ashley VanBrunt, where he was tenderly
cared for until Wednesday, when he died. His body was taken to Brooklyn
on Friday. It is said that suit will be commenced against the railway company
for damages.
