New Jersey Obituaries - July 21, 1897 - Miss Jennie A. Morford
|
Miss Jennie A. Morford of Red Bank died at her home on Broad street last Thursday morning. About a week previous to her death Miss Morford caught a severe cold, which resulted in an attack of peritonitis, complicated with other diseases. Dr. W. Gill Wylie of New York came to Red Bank to perform an operation the day before her death, but owing to her weak condition it was thought best not to perform it. A little later in the day she rallied somewhat and for a time hopes of her recovery were entertained, but she afterward sank and died on Thursday.
Miss Morford was the daughter of Elizabeth C. and the late Thomas F. Morford. She was 39 years old and was born in the house in which she died. Her mother has been in failing health for some time, and upon Miss Morford had devolved the chief care of the invalid and the household. She was a member of the Red Bank Presbyterian church, and was an earnest worker in the Sunday-school. Her funeral was held on Saturday afternoon from her late home and was conducted by Rev. Robert G. Davey. The pall bearers were R. F. Parker, Harry Edwards, Gilbert Reckless, Charles H. Ivins, George V. Sneden and William Hockman. The interment was at Fair View cemetery.
