New Jersey Obituaries - April 20, 1898 - John Beyer

John Beyer of Broad street died on Sunday afternoon about six o'clock, having been sick for several days. He was born in Frankfort, Germany, and came to America when a young man. He engaged in the bakery business on Sixth avenue, New York, in a building which he still owned at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Trust in 1845 and ten years later he moved to Middletown township. He afterward moved to Red Bank, where he spent the remainder of his life. Mr. Beyer was eighty years old. He leaves seven children-Mrs. Mary Allstrom, Mrs. Elizabeth White, Mrs. Louisa Throckmorton and Miss Hannah Beyer of Red Bank; George H. Beyer and Andrew A. Beyer of Brooklyn, and John A.Beyer of Newark. Mr. Beyer also leaves one brother, George H. Beyer of New York. The funeral was held at his late home at three o'clock this afternoon. Rev. Robert G. Davey conducted the services, assisted by Revs. F. R. Harbaugh and H. F. Gravatt. The pall bearers were William Otterson, W. B. Lawrence, I. H. Adlem, Peter Kroener, Robert Austin and W. J. Sickles. The body was buried at Fair View.
Per the Death Notice Mr. Beyer was aged 80 years, 1 month and 17 days.
