New Jersey Obituaries - April 27, 1898 - Selah Burtt

Selah Burtt of Long Branch died on Saturday a week ago, aged 83 years. His death was caused by paralysis, with which he was stricken two days before he died. Mr. Burtt was born in Essex county. During the war he was foreman of a gang of men who were engaged in building a railroad in Georgia. After the war Mr. Burtt went to Keyport where he worked as a carriage painter with county Clerk Theodore Aumack. Twenty years ago he moved to Long Branch, where he lived until the time of his death. Mr. Burtt leaves six children. They are Thomas, Carrie, Theodore, Selah H. and B. L. Burtt of Long Branch and E. C. Burtt of Branchport.
