New Jersey Wills - December 7, 1898 - Daniel P. VanDorn
|
The will of Daniel P. VanDorn of Freehold was probated on Monday. Mr. VanDorn left to his son, William VanDorn, his gold watch, horse, harness and wagons, and half his bank stock. His house and lot at Freehold and his farm of 200 acres at Marlboro, together with all his personal property except that specified above, he left to his wife as long as she should live. At her death it is to go to his son. Should his son die before his wife, and without leaving children, then Mr. VanDorn's wife is to get the property. In that case Mr. VanDorn requests his wife to bequeath $2,000 to the Marlboro Brick church, the income from which is to go toward the minister's salary; $1,000 to the Second Reformed church of Freehold; and $5,000 to Catharine P. P. Reckless. The will specially states that this request is not obligatory on his wife, and that she can use her own judgement in carrying it out. His wife and son are the executors of the will. The will was made December 6th, 1894, with William H. Vredenburgh and Joseph S. Thompson as witnesses.
