New Jersey Obituaries - December 14, 1898 - James Matthews

James Matthews of Keyport died last Thursday, aged 62 years. He had been sick with consumption for a long time but the direct cause of his death was paralysis. Mr. Matthews had lived at Keyport 46 years. He was born at Keansburg and had lived all his life in Raritan township. He had held several township offices and at the time of his death was harbor master of Keyport. Forty years ago he married Miss Mary Jane Westervelt and she with one son survives him.
