New Jersey Obituaries - January 5, 1898 - Michael Sexton

Michael Sexton of Spring Lake died on Friday, December 24th, aged 77 years. His death was caused by neuralgia of the heart. Mr. Sexton was born near Asbury Park April 3d, 1821. He married Miss Frances Allgor of New Bedford 54 years ago and she, with eight children, survives him. The children are John G. Sexton of Long Branch; David, James H., Michael and George Sexton of Asbury park; Mrs. Elwood Newman and Mrs. Burtis Johnson of Farmingdale, and Mrs. John Parker of Hudson, Wisconsin.
Mr. Sexton was well known in Monmouth county. In his early life he was employed as a shad fisherman and later he was a Washington market commission merchant. Mr. Sexton had always been a Democrat and had held several township offices in Wall township.
