New Jersey News - July 20, 1898 - Three Fishermen Drowned
|
Three Fishermen Drowned
Three fishermen were drowned at sea off Long Branch on Tuesday of last week. The men were employed by Conover Gaskin, and with four other fishermen were returning form the nets when their boat was capsized. The drowned men were Stephen Bailey of Long Branch, who was 35 years old; and John Thompson and Fred Hansen, both of whom were Norwegians. The other men who were in the boat succeeded in reaching the shore. The bodies of Thompson and Hansen were washed ashore but the body of Bailey has not yet been recovered.
