A Child Burned to Death
Ira C. Clark, the four-year old son of George W. Clark of Matawan, was burned fatally on Saturday a week ago, while reaching for something on the mantel near the stove. The child's clothes caught fire. His screams were heard by his mother, who was upstairs at the time. She rushed down stairs, and succeeded in putting out the fire, but not until the boy's legs and body were severely burned. Her hands were badly burned. The child suffered intensely and died from the effects of the burns the next day.
