New Jersey Obituaries - June 29, 1898 - Charles K. Jerome
|
An Actor Dies Suddenly at Fair Haven
Charles K. Jerome, an actor stopping at the Dennison house at Fair Haven, died suddenly yesterday morning. He was in Red Bank on Monday afternoon and was to have taken part in the performance in the opera house that night. When he went home in the afternoon he was taken sick with gastritis. His sickness was at first thought to be slight, but he grew rapidly worse and died in convulsions in the arms of one of his friends at ten o'clock yesterday morning. He was 41 years old, and had been an actor nearly 25 years. He and his wife had signed a contract to tour with the Russell Brothers comedy company next season. Mr. and Mrs. Jerome had spent several summers at Fair haven, and were well-known to many of the people of Red Bank.
