Search this site by Keyword / Surname:

George LaFayette VanSycle, the only child of G. L. VanSycle of Rahway, fell from a train at Jersey City last Thursday and was instantly killed. Mr. VanSycle married Miss Carrie Serr, daughter of Jacob Serr of Red Bank, a year ago last June. She survives him. Mr. VanSycle was night brakeman on a train at Jersey City. He was to leave his position shortly and go into the bicycle business, as his mother feared that an accident might happen to him. This is the second child of Mr. VanSycle's that has been killed. The family attended a parade at Elizabeth on Thursday and reached home at ten o'clock at night. Shortly after returning home they learned that the young man had been killed. Mr. VanSycle had acted as violinist in a Methodist church at Rahway for a number of years. He was 22 years old. He leaves no children. His widow will receive $1,000 from a lodge of which her husband was a member, and $200 from an insurance company.
