Killed at Sandy Hook

Henry V. Murphy of the Highlands was killed at Sandy Hook last Wednesday by the explosion of a ten-inch gun which was being tested. Murphy and two other men got behind a bomb proof shield fifty yards back of the gun, but so terrific was the explosion that the breech-block was driven through the bank of sand and plank and was found later 2000 yards away. The breech-block struck Murphy in the stomach and cut his body in two, killing him instantly. The other two men were badly injured, but not fatally.
