Mrs. Sarah Johnson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eliza Brainard, at Locust Point, last Saturday, aged 91 years. Four weeks ago she fell and broke her hip, the shock of which proved too much for her weakened vitality. Until she broke her hip she was in possession of all her faculties and was able to attend to all the work in her own room daily.

Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of Deborah and Benjamin Burdge and was born near Lufburrow’s mill in Middletown township. The house in which she was born is still standing and is owned by Mrs. Purdy. She was married to William Johnson of Locust Point in 1824. He died 23 years ago. Mrs. Johnson was the mother of eleven children, six of whom are living. They are Mrs. Eliza Brainard of Locust Point, William Johnson of Hoboken, Mrs. Charles Green, John M. Johnson and Mrs. R. G. Andrew of Navesink, and J. Mort Johnson of the Highlands. She also leaves one brother, William Burdge of Locust Point. He is 78 years old and is very spry for one of his age.

The funeral was held at the house at eleven o’clock this morning. Rev. J. W. Nickelson of the Navesink Methodist church, of which Mrs. Johnson had been a member over sixty years, officiated. The body was buried at Fair View cemetery.
