New Jersey Obituaries - 1899 - Alfred Cooper

Alfred Cooper of Freehold died last Thursday of heart disease, aged 65 years. He had been sick a year and a half. He was the son of the late Lydia and Miles Cooper of Turkey. He conducted a grocery store at Freehold at one time and later worked as a clerk in several stores. The last place that he worked was in the store of William H. Brown.

Mr. Cooper married Miss Mary E. Oliphant, daughter of the late Judge Oliphant of Freehold, and she and seven children survive him. The children are Mrs. Philip R. Sprague of West Creek, David M. Cooper, Mrs. E. Josephine Phair, Frank T. Cooper and Mrs. J. Hatfield Youmans of Asbury Park, and Howard and Bertha Cooper, who live at home. Mr. Cooper leaves also two half-sisters and one half-brother. They are Mrs. Joseph Nevis of Turkey, Mrs. Alphonso Smith of Brooklyn, Mrs. George Hunt of Patchogue, L. I., and Charles Cooper of Bradley Beach.
