New Jersey Obituaries - 1899 - John L. Moon

John L. Moon died at his home at Belford on Sunday of an internal trouble with which he had been sick but a few days. He was 67 years old and was born at Catskill, N. Y. He moved to Belford about 35 years ago and engaged in farming. About six years ago he was elected justice of the peace. He served for six months and then gave up the office. Three years ago he was again elected to the office, and held it up to the time of his death. A widow and four children survive him. The children are Mrs. Mary Wolford of Belford, Mrs. Daniel Scott of Atlantic Highlands, Eugene Moon of Brooklyn and Fred Moon, who is pilot of the ferryboat Pavonia of the Erie line. The funeral was held this morning at half-past ten o’clock from the house and at eleven o’clock from the Belford Methodist church. The service was conducted by Rev. J. H. Boyd and Rev. William V. Wilson. The body was buried at Bay View cemetery.
