A Manasquan Man Killed at Point Pleasant

Oscar Durand of Manasquan, father of Frank Durand of Asbury Park was killed on Saturday in a railroad accident at Point Pleasant. He was engineer on the Central railroad. Owing to an open switch his train ran on to a siding and crashed into some ice cars. The engine of Mr. Durand’s train toppled over and he was pinned beneath it and instantly killed. Three of Firemen Bradley’s ribs were broken. The ice cars were smashed. There were only a few people on the passenger train and none of them was hurt. Mr. Durand had been employed on the road a number of years. He was sixty years old.
