Dr. Joseph B. Goodenough of Long Branch City died last Wednesday, aged 73 years. Death was caused by congestion of the lungs, with which he had been sick a little over a week, but he had suffered with heart disease for several years. Dr. Goodenough was the son of Hannah and Joseph Goodenough and he was born at Farmingdale in 1825. He began to practice medicine there in 1852 and a year later he moved to Blue Ball, where he was appointed postmaster. He moved from Blue Ball to Long Branch 23 years ago and built up an extensive practice. In 1869 he married Miss Virginia Allen, daughter of Tylee Allen of Manasquan, and she, with three children, survives him. He also leaves a brother and a sister, William Goodenough of Farmingdale and Mrs. Mary Davison of West Farms.
