New Jersey Obituaries - 1899 - Jerome M. Davis

Jerome M. Davis, a well-known stair builder of Long Branch, died on Sunday of last week of pneumonia. He had been sick five days. He was thought to be recovering, but an hour before his death his condition underwent a change and he died very suddenly. He leaves a wife and one daughter. The daughter is Mrs. Charlotte VanBrackle of Long Branch. His only other relative in this locality is a nephew, James Davis of Branchport.

Mr. Davis was born in Richmond, Va., and while he was a young man he was employed on the staircases in many of the public buildings in Washington. He was a great man for lodges, and belonged to the Long Branch lodge of Free Masons, the Royal Arch Masons, the Asbury Park Knights Templar, the Knights of Pythias lodge, the Mystic Shrine, and the Oceanic fire company. He carried an insurance of $1,000 in the endowment rank of the Knights of Pythias.
