New Jersey Obituaries - 1899 - Charles Patterson

Charles Patterson of Freehold died on Saturday a week ago, aged 78 years. He had been sick a number of months. He was the son of Moses Patterson and was born near Turkey. He worked at farming until he was 22 years old and then moved to Freehold, where he opened a blacksmith shop. He retired from business about fifteen years ago. On February 21st, 1850, he married Miss Keziah Voorhees, daughter of John Voorhees who lived near Harmony. She, with three daughters, survives him. The daughters are Mrs. Thomas P. Hale of Irvington, Mrs. Eugene Vreeland of Newark and Mrs. William B. Lockwood of Freehold. Thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive him.
