Charles Smith Castle of Keyport died on Friday, June 30th, aged 83 years. He was known by the name of Smith. His grandmother’s name was Smith and when a boy he dropped the name of Castle and went by the name of Smith to please her. He had been in poor health and for the past month had been confined to his bed. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the civil war and was a member of Shackelton Post. He was married fifty years ago to Sarah Jane Cottrell and she and four children survive him. The children are Mrs. Timothy Mount, Mrs. Henry VanBuskirk, and Charles and John Smith.
