Mrs. Deborah W. Edwards, wife of John C. Edwards of Eatontown, died last Thursday of a tumor, aged 78 years. She had been sick about six months, but previous to this sickness she had been in remarkably good health all her life. She was the daughter of Lydia and John Wolcott of Eatontown. She was married to Mr. Edwards on the fourth of January, 1844. They began housekeeping immediately in a house on Railroad avenue at Eatontown, where they have lived ever since. Four children were born to them. One of the children died in infancy. The three surviving children are Mrs. M. L. Irwin and Harmon W. Edwards of Long Branch and Mrs. Emma White of Boston. The funeral was held on Saturday aternoon at two o’clock at the Eatontown Methodist church, of which Mrs. Edwards had been a member for the past fifty years. The service was conducted by Rev. Mr. Stevens. The pall-bearers were Edward Haynes, Charles Richmond, Levi Scobey and Joseph Johnston. The body was buried at Greenlawn cemetery at Long Branch.
