An Unfortunate Family
Five Accidents and One Death Within a Year
The family of William Lambertson of Marlboro has been peculiarly unfortunate during the past year. While
Mr. Lambertson was unloading hay in the barn last week a hay fork fell from its tackling. The prongs hit
his shoulders, bruising and lacerating the flesh. A few days later his son Tunis started to light a fire
in the stove with kerosene. An explosion followed and the boy was burned on the forehead and on other parts
of the head and face. His eyebrows and hair were singed and his cap was burned off. The afternoon of the
same day another son, Raymond, was flourishing a piece of wood which had been brought in for use in the same
stove when a splinter from the stick penetrated the cartilage of the ear.
Last summer Mr. Lambertson’s son Mulford fell and broke his leg. This accident was followed by the death of
his daughter Florence. About a month ago Warren, another son, cut all the fingers off of one of his hands.
