Died From Taking Laudanum

George Briggs of Freehold died on Sunday of last week from taking laudanum. He had been working in Brakeley’s canning factory and had been despondent for some time. On Sunday morning he did not come down to breakfast, and at noon, when his room was entered, he was lying in bed unconscious. He had taken a large dose of laudanum and he died before a doctor could be procured. He was 37 years old and unmarried. For some time past he had made his home with his sister, Mrs. Sarah Drennan.
