William L. Covert of New Monmouth died last Sunday of acute indigestion, aged 76 years. The Wednesday previous to his death he drove to Keyport. Shortly after coming home he went to the barn to do some work. He did not return and a member of the family went to the barn to see what was the matter. Mr. Covert was found leaning against a wagon. He was unable to walk without help and he complained of severe pains in the chest. He was helped to the house and went at once to bed. He grew gradually worse until he died.

Mr. Covert was born at Morrisville and had spent all his life in Middletown township. He was twice married. His first wife was Eliza Compton, by whom he had two children. They are John Covert of Keansburg and Mrs. John Acker of Keyport. His second wife was Mrs. Lousa Morford, who survives him. He leaves also two brothers and a sister. They are Joseph and John Covert of Port Monmouth and Mrs. Mary C. Jennings of Michigan.

The funeral was held this morning at ten o’clock at the New Monmouth Baptist church, of which Mr. Covert was a member. The service was conducted by Rev. M. M. Finch. The body was buried in Green Grove cemetery at Keyport.
