Garrett Thorne, a farmer living near Centerville, between Middletown and Keyport, died last Thursday afternoon in his 72d year. He had been sick with kidney disease for several months, but did not take to his bed until the day before his death. Mr. Thorne was born in Raritan township, near where Lorillard’s brick works now are. He was a farmer by occupation. About 45 years ago he married Miss Harriet Walling, daughter of George D. Walling. She survives him and he also leaves one son, Theodore R. Thorne. Two other children who were born to them have died. Twelve grandchildren are living. Mr. Thorne leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hoff and Miss Elizabeth Rappelyea. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at the house and the burial was in Green Grove cemetery.
