Robert H. White, one of the oldest residents of Shrewsbury, died on Monday. Mr. White was 83 years old and was the son of Lyttleton White. He was never married but lived all his life in the house on the east side of the Shrewsbury and Red Bank road, a short distance north of the Episcopal church. Mr. White was connected with Christ church at Shrewsbury all his life and was one of the most devoted members of the church. He made with his own hands some of the furniture of the church and he also fashioned the Bishop’s chair from the wood of the century-old oak which formerly stood in the churchyard.
For twenty years or more Mr. White was clerk of the vestry of the church. He relinquished the position last year on account of his age. He was a brother of Charles White, who died about six years ago. He leaves one sister, Mrs. Abby Sheeper, who is the last remaining member of his family.
The funeral was held this afternoon and was conducted by Rev. Robert MacKellar. The burial was in the Episcopal churchyard at Shrewsbury.
Per the Death Notice Mr. White was aged 83 years, 5 months and 9 days.
