Mrs. Emma (Buck) Hance of Freehold, died of peritonitis on Saturday , August 11th, aged 47 years. She had
been sick only a week. Mrs. Hance was the daughter of Alice and Henry Buck and was born at Colt’s Neck.
She had been a life-long member of the Reformed church, joining first at Colt’s Neck and transferring to
Freehold after her marriage, which was in 1876. Mrs. Hance leaves three children. They are Henry W.,
William and Clifford Hance, all of whom live at home. Five sisters and one brother also survive her. They
are Mrs. Charles W. Smock of Red Bank, Mrs. D. H. Lefferson of Colt’s Neck, Mrs. Ann Herbert and Mrs. Jane
Hance of Freehold, Mrs. Amy Matthews of Trenton and H. W. Buck of Marlboro.
