New Jersey Obituaries - 1900 - Thomas Puryear

Thomas Puryear, a well known horseman, who had made his home for several years past with Louis Stuart of Oceanport, died last Thursday of apoplexy. He was 85 years old and had been in poor health for a long time. He was born at Columbia, Ga., and during his lifetime had owned and bred some of the fastest horses on the American turf. Two sons survive him, both of whom live in the South. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at two o’clock at his late home and the body was buried in the West Long Branch cemetery.
