A Murder at Asbury Park
Genora Gonmentino shot and killed Dommick Bastone of West Asbury Park on Monday. Bastone
accused Gonmentino with being too familiar with his wife. A quarrel ensued during which Bastone
cut Gonmentino’s face with a razor. The latter then fired six shots at his assailant, nearly all
of which took effect. Bastone staggered toward his home and fell dead as he crossed the
threshold. Gonmentino fled after firing the shots. He was captured later at Farmingdale,
and was sent to the county jail. This is the fourth murder that has occurred in Monmouth
county in the last six months.
