New Jersey Obituaries - 1900 - George W. Johnson


   

George W. Johnson, formerly of Keyport, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry C. Stilwell of Jersey City, on Sunday, December 31st, aged 87 years. The greater part of his life was spent at seafaring and he was the first captain of the steamer Holmdel which runs between Keyport and New York. He lived at Keyport thirty years and afterward moved to Manasquan. The last few years of his life were spent with his daughter at Jersey City. He married Miss Sarah A. Newbury of Manasquan, who died about fifteen years ago. Three children survive him.
