|
Mrs. Deborah (Longstreet) Snyder Bergen of Monmouth street died of general debility last Friday, aged 74 years. Mrs. Bergen was very active for one of her age and was in her usual health until within a short time before her death. She was the daughter of Christian and William Longstreet and was born at Oakhurst. She married William Snyder of Keyport about 36 years ago. He died about two years after their marriage, leaving one daughter, who died in infancy. A few years later Mrs. Snyder married William A. Bergen, brother of the late John R. Bergen. They then moved to Bergen’s Mills. From there they moved to Red Bank, where Mr. Bergen died. Mrs. Bergen had since lived here.
Mrs. Bergen leaves two children by her second marriage. They are Mrs. Jane Ann Kirby of Red Bank and Mrs. Hannah V. Taylor of Bordentown. She leaves also four brothers. They are Jacob, Jeremiah and Adam Longstreet of Red Bank and Thomas R. Longstreet of Oceanic. The funeral was held at half-past two o’clock on Sunday afternoon at the house. The body was buried in Fair View cemetery. The pall bearers were William J. Sickles, Joseph Mount, John Van Pelt, Timbrook Davis, Leonard Davis and John Sutton.
