New Jersey Obituaries - 1900 - John W. Bissell

John W. Bissell of Jersey City, son of the late Martin Bissell of Matawan, died on Wednesday, June 20th of consumption, aged 53 years. Mr. Bissell was born at Matawan. When a young man he obtained a position in the office of Henry S. Little at Trenton, who was then clerk in chancery. He gave up his position with Mr. Little to go to Jersey City to study law. He was successful in his profession and he leaves an estate estimated to be worth $50,000. He was twice married. His second wife survives him, but he leaves no children.
