New Jersey Obituaries - 1900 - August Rohbeck

August Rohbeck of Long Branch died of paralysis last Wednesday, aged seventy years. He had been in poor health over a year. About three months ago he was stricken with paralysis. On the day of his death he had been at work as usual and sat down to witness the display of fireworks when he was again stricken. He lived only a few hours afterward.
Mr. Rohbeck was the son of Marie and Frederick Rohbeck and was born at Hanover, Germany. He had been in this country over thirty years. For the past seventeen years he had been connected with the firm of Rohbeck Bros., proprietors of Rohbeck’s hotel at Long Branch. Mr. Rohbeck was a fine tenor singer and he had been connected with some of the best theatres in New York and Europe. He leaves one brother, Charles Rohbeck of Long Branch. The funeral was held on Friday and the body was buried in Greenlawn cemetery.
