Chester Dye Drowned Near Brookdale Farm
He Was Bathing in a Brook when He Got in a Deep Hole and Was Unable to Save Himself - Lived Near Keyport
Chester Dye, aged 21 years, son of Christopher Dye, who lives at Ogden’s corner, near Keyport, was drowned last night while bathing in a brook near Brookdale farm at Holmdel. Dye is employed at Brookdale farm. He and John McCormick went in bathing in the brook about half-past seven o’clock. Dye was unable to swim. The brook is very deep in places and Dye got into one of these deep places and was drowned. McCormick endangered his own life in trying to save his companion. Coroner Tetley viewed the body this morning and gave a permit for burial. Undertaker Smith brought the body to his undertaking establishment at Red Bank and afterward removed it to the young man’s home.
