New Jersey Obituaries - 1900 - Martin Walling Lohsen

Martin Walling Lohsen, son of Martin C. Lohsen of Belford, died on Friday of paralysis of the brain, aged 21 years. He had been sick several weeks with kidney trouble. On the Wednesday previous to his death he felt better than he had in some time and was able to be out of doors. Shortly after noon on Friday he was stricken with paralysis of the brain and he died before night. Mr. Lohsen was a member of the American Mechanics lodge of Belford and was active in the Methodist church and Sunday-school. He leaves a sister, Mrs. Joseph S. Clark of Belford.
The funeral was held at the Methodist church on Monday afternoon. The lodge attended the funeral in a body and sent a floral piece representing the emblem of the order. The church and Sunday-school also sent floral offerings. The service was conducted by Rev. J. Ward Clark. Three pall bearers were from the lodge and three were from the Sunday-school. Theodore Johntry, Otis Casler and Caleb Luker represented the lodge and Jesse Webster, Stanley Clark and Frank Luker represented the Sunday-school. The body was buried at Fair View cemetery.
