Maria (Bowman) Sutphen, wife of Henry Sutphin of Long Branch, died at the Long Branch hospital on Monday of last week from the effects of an operation for cancer, aged 55 years. She was the daughter of Mary and Charles Bowman of Colt’s Neck, and she married Mr. Suthphin about 35 years ago. She leaves two children, Charles E. Sutphin and Mrs. Jennie Thompson of Long Branch. Four sisters and a brother also survive her. They are Mrs. R. J. Miller, Mrs. Frank Nelson and Mrs. Holmes Thorne of Long Branch City, Mrs. Robert G. Lester of New York, and Francis E. Bowman of West Long Branch.
