New Jersey Obituaries - 1900 - Isaiah Miller
|
Isaiah Miller of Spring street died last Saturday night of catarrh of the stomach, aged 51 years. He had been ailing about three weeks, but was able to be around. On Thursday he went to Camden as a delegate to the A. M. E. conference. He was taken dangerously sick soon after he reached Camden and he gradually sank until his death. The funeral was held this afternoon at one o'clock at the house and at two o'clock at Zion church. The service was conducted by Rev. J. D. Carrothers, pastor of the church. The sermon was preached by Rev. W. T. Biddle of Eatontown. The body was buried at Lincroft.
Mr. Miller was the son of Henry Miller and was born at Lincroft. He had lived at Red Bank a good many years, his occupation being that of a painter. He was an official member of the A. M. E. church and had been superintendent of the Sunday-school for the past ten years. He was the founder of the Red Bank drum corps, but of late years had not been active in its affairs. He leaves a widow, who was Mary E. Levi of Long Island. He leaves no children.
