Mrs. Emeline Hitchcock Dies At the Age of Seventy-Eight Years
Mrs. Emeline Taylor Hitchock of Broad street, widow of William G. Hitchcock, died last Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Hitchcock had
been sick since last March, but had not been confined to her bed until a short time before her death. The funeral was held on Friday
afternoon at two o'clock at the house. Rev. S. H. Thompson had charge of the service. The pall bearers were Arthur A Patterson, I.H.
Adlem, Captain John A. Worthley and William J. Sickles.
Mrs. Hitchcock was the daughter of Captain Joseph Taylor of Chapel Hill. In 1853 she married Mr. Hitchcock, who was then in
partnership with James H. Peters on Broad street. She had lived in Red Bank ever since her marriage, and had occupied a house on
the east side of Broad street. Her husband died last October Mrs. Hitchcock was 78 years old.
